Fraudulant Withdrawal

By Ted

Pay Pal fraudulently withdrew funds from my bank account.

I always used my credit card to pay for purchases through pay pal.  They kept badgering me to become a verified member by providing my bank account information. I finally did and was I in for a suprise.  On my next ebay purchase, despite specific instructions to pay for the purchase with my credit card – paypal simply withdrew funds from my bank account – without any authorization or notification.

When I complained, I go not response.  When I informed my bank of the fraudulent activity, Pay Pal took the money from the merchant and said I owned them the money!!  I repeatedly told them to bill my credit card as they had originally been instructed – to no avail.  I finally paid the merchant directly yet paypal continued to show that I owe them money.  After several weeks, the account was zeroed out but then Paypal froze my account noting there is no appeal from their action.  Eight emails asking for an explanation resulted in canned responses that had nothing to do with my question.  The account is frozen and I can’t even close it!

I filed a complaint with the FTC, the FDIC and the Better Business Bureau.  This outfit is bad news.  I will never do business with them again.  Luckily, I didn’t lose any money but these guys are crooks.  Imagine, simply withdrawing money from your bank account without your knowledge or permission.  Outrageous!
