How Does PayPal Make Money With My Money?

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, there are approx. 100,000 complaints outstanding at PayPal (Are any of these yours?). In many instances disputes can run on for months leaving people frustrated and out of pocket as they are unable to access their accounts. So what happens to the millions of dollars tied up in frozen accounts and disputes? Well, here is a clip from the San Francisco Chronicle that basically sums it up:

U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel of San Jose refused to dismiss a lawsuit that seeks class-action status on behalf of thousands of PayPal customers nationwide. A common allegation is that the company brushes off or stalls customer grievances for months and meanwhile freezes the customer's account and pockets the interest (So that's how they make their money!). No wonder they freeze so many accounts!

From what I am reading, everybody seems correct about this thing about Paypal limiting accounts. I have had several experiences with them limiting my accounts. Whenever they see a good chunk of money in the account, they will then limit it. Example; if you just sold a item on Ebay for $300. As soon as that $300 hits your Paypal account, you need to transfer the money to your bank account right away. Don’t wait. If you wait to transfer the money, you will lose your money in the limiting game that Paypal plays to make money. Never, never, and I mean never keep money in the Paypal account! Paypal has tried several times to burn me out of thousands of dollars. I have been lucky that I have been able to suck it out of the account qucik enough before they limit it. One suggestion that works sometimes too….. is refund your buyer the money if your account is limited and ask them to send you a check or money order. All of us together sharing stories and ideas can and will win against this giant beast that is out to steal money from honest people.
