PayPal Placed Block
Writer Wishes To Remain Anonymous
I recently received an e-mail from PayPal saying that someone had tried to access my acct. with an foreign IP address and they needed me to confirm my banking information. They said they would put a security lock on it and investigate, to give them 72 hrs. I thought this might have been a hoax but it had my name on it, not PayPal user. I also called them and they said they did send me the e-mail. I filled it out and the information and then 4 days later I received another e-mail saying the same thing and that they did put the security lock on.
It was too late, as someone hijacked that e-mail and got my information and used it to withdraw over $900 from our checking acct. Our bank didn’t even catch the irregular withdrawls being made on three different days from Madrid, ES, and Bogota, Columbia. They tried to make several more of over $200 but they were denied and still the NEW system didn’t catch it at all. They tried until they reached an amt. that would go out. I just can’t believe that they didn’t see it.
I cash checks there regularly and they should have seen the activity and done something about it. PayPal should have put my acct. under security block earlier, and also called me about this not e-mail me. Thank you for letting me tell you.
