PayPal Postage Coupon
I used to think paypal was quite innocuous until they sent me a “coupon” for “free postage”. So I bought something from ebay that I thought would be a bargain with the postage reduced by a fiver. Went to pay for it. Enterered the coupon code and clicked submit. Guess what? it didn’t work. So I contacted paypal as directed and after getting the severe runaround, the upshot of their response was this
“Thank you for contacting PayPal.
I checked the coupon on your account and it has ineligible status. We apologize for the inconvenience. These coupons are sent to all eBay users but not all are eligible.
If you are chosen to receive a coupon, you will receive your coupon via email, an on-site offer or a posted catalogue or postcard. The email will contain your coupon’s redemption code.”
There was no mention that it might not work in the email I received. I consider this behaviour tantamount to fraud.
After reading some of the stories on this site I consider that I have had a lucky escape. At least I didn’t lose any money, not directly anyway.
As soon as all my current ebay purchases arrive I will be joing the ranks of the ex-paypal users.
