PayPal signed me up for an account against my will

For any number of reasons I can’t stand Paypal but this latest incident is too much. Bought a $350 item on E-bay, went to pay for it. Was given the option to select Paypal for payment (NO WAY) and another option to pay by credit or debit card, which I made a conscious decision not to use Paypal. Next window asks for credit/debit card information but also asks if you would like to set up a “Guest Paypal Account” to which I again, this is twice now, declined to use Paypal.

So the funds are removed from my bank account for the purchase, but not received. Contact seller, tells me “My” Paypal account has a problem. Interesting I don’t have a Paypal account. So contact Paypal and discover that although I twice selected not to use or have anything to do with Paypal, they injected themselves into the transaction anyway. I’m not sure why it twice asks you if you want to use Paypal, and irregardless of your declinations, makes you use it anyway.

So these clowns took my money, then somehow flagged my account as being “suspicious” (what a joke, I think Paypal is suspicious…) but doesn’t contact me, doesn’t try to send me communication, just takes my money, flags my account and abandons me. So seller thinks I’m a fraud, has re-listed the item I paid for, and for which my money was taken by Paypal, and I have nothing that I paid for. I find it incredibly deceptive that it asks you twice if you want to use Paypal, and even deliberately declining to use them twice, they take your transaction and money anyway. I find that blatantly and deliberately deceptive. You get no choice, even though they appear to give you choices. This is the most morally bankrupt company on the planet.

Seems like they can get away with whatever they want with no repercussions. I truly despise this company. If you haven’t done so call your bank and dispute the charge since they took your money and you never got you item. I would also close the account since it is now linked to paypal and I guarantee you they will try to take more money from you

I have too seen this “Guest PayPal account” but I am not sure what the difference is with a guest account and a real paypal account. Either way I don’t want paypal to have any of my information so I only buy from ebay sellers that have credit card acceptance through a payment gateway. That way there is no worries about paypal getting involved. Just sucks that not more ebay sellers have credit card acceptance through other company then paypal

Even if you select to pay with a credit or debit card, PayPal will still process the payment.
