PayPal Teams Up With Theives and Idiots
By William
Guy bids on an item for $300, pays with PayPal and refuses to pay for insurance.
I ship the item a few days later than promised, so I offer the guy a $10 rebate, which he agrees to.
I send the item.
Either the USPS lost it, or the guy simply lied, but either way, he complains to PayPal.
So, PayPal takes the money back and says they'll "investigate".
I never got a chance to tell my side of the story to PayPal, instead I'm given a constant run-around that keeps referring me to the same, useless web page that has three options: 1. Admit guilt and cough up a refund. 2. Provide proof of delivery (hard when the USPS lost the item!) 3. Agree to some other arrangement with the buyer.
Well, suffice to say, PayPal charged me back for the sale, so now I have no item, and no money, and PayPal simply took this buyer's word for it.
For what it's worth, the buyer had negative feedback for similar scams. I wish I had read that before sending the item . . . now I'm out $316 plus the fee PayPal charged for their "investigation".
I'm so angry that I could spit nails!
So here's how to rip people off with PayPal's willing assistance:
1. Bid on an item that will be shipped USPS priority mail
2. Refuse the insurance
3. Pay with PayPal
4. Claim you never got it
5. File claim with PayPal
6. Keep item and get refund of payment in a couple weeks, courtesy of PayPal
Pretty slick, huh?
