Scam Alert

Something EVERY Paypal User Should Know.

A common scam on Paypal is the stealing of money through hacked accounts (by third parties, not Paypal). Many passwords are stolen through misleading Email messages. New scams are made every day, but they generally follow the same tone by telling you that your information needs to be updated or something.

THIS WAS NOT SENT BY PAYPAL! Do not follow the instructions! By clicking on the link and following the instructions, you will actually be giving away your password to a thief! This thief actually registered the domain in the name of Confinity, Inc. (a Paypal affiliated company). However, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PAYPAL! Anybody can register a new domain and be online in 24 hours, gone in 48.

A good practice is to never “click over” to Paypal (or anything sensitive) directly from an Email. If the Email is misleading then the site could really be there to farm your password and get at your account by online thieves. This is a very common scam and easy to do on the Internet. Instead of “clicking over”, open your browser yourself and get there from a favorite or by keying in website URL with your own fingers. (My only question is what are you doing on Paypal after reading this site anyway?)

I highly doubt Paypal would EVER send out an Email such as this. Do not be fooled!

URGENT: PayPal System Problems
Dear PayPal User,

Today we had some trouble with one of our computer systems. While the trouble appears to be minor, we are not taking any chances. We decided to take the troubled system offline and replace it with a new system. Unfortunately this caused us to lose some member data. Please follow the link below and log into your account to make sure your information is not affected. Account balances have not been affected.

Because of the inconvenience this causes we are giving all users that repair their missing data their next two incoming transfers for free! You will pay no fees for your next two incoming transfers*.

Thank you for using PayPal!

* – If fees would normally apply, you will not pay anything for the next two incoming transfers you receive.
