Successful Horror Story
Writer Wishes To Remain Anonymous
I was a victim of the Pay Pal “close the user account” game, too. My money was held by PP for over 6 months and I was not allowed to have access to my PP account records via their website after the lockout last year in July. In February of 2003 I finally got all the money that was locked in my account (sans interest…big surprise). I then contacted PP via phone to make sure that the account was closed and requested that PP remove all my bank account and other personal information from their system. I was flatly denied and told that it was their choice to keep the information on their system and they would NOT remove it.
I immediately contacted my banking institution, cancelled my bank account with them, and opened new accounts and new charge card accounts with a new bank. What a sorry excuse for a company PayPal really is. Thanks to your site, I was lucky to get my money back…just wish I had seen it before the lockout occurred and I wouldn’t have had anything in the PP account to be locked away for over 6 months.
