How Does PayPal Make Money With My Money?

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, there are approx. 100,000 complaints outstanding at PayPal (Are any of these yours?). In many instances disputes can run on for months leaving people frustrated and out of pocket as they are unable to access their accounts. So what happens to the millions of dollars tied up in frozen accounts and disputes? Well, here is a clip from the San Francisco Chronicle that basically sums it up:

U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel of San Jose refused to dismiss a lawsuit that seeks class-action status on behalf of thousands of PayPal customers nationwide. A common allegation is that the company brushes off or stalls customer grievances for months and meanwhile freezes the customer's account and pockets the interest (So that's how they make their money!). No wonder they freeze so many accounts!

My priviliges at PayPal have been forever suspended…My son bid on and won an item listed on EBay…EBAY sent us an email notifying us that they shut down the auction, and closed the down the seller….

I notified PayPal that EBAY stopped the auction and closed the seller down …I told PayPal that I did not want them to withdrawal the funds from my account.

PayPal told me that I agreed to buy the item and that I had to Pay for the item regardless…I asked them just who was I buying the time from? The Merchant was shut down, and my emails to the merchant were being returned to me….

I asked PayPal why anyone would pay for an item they knew they would not be receiving….and PayPal’s respons—once you pay for the item, you can file a dispute with PayPal..PayPal will review it and either Pay the merchant or return the money to me…….oh, and there is a fee for this dispute……

needless to say, I stopped payment at my financil institution. As a result of this stop payment, PayPal has revoked my priviliges.

I think it is about time that PayPal is regulated.
